Treasury is seeking candidates with expertise in applied macroeconomic analysis and policy to join our Macroeconomic Conditions Division. These positions will enhance Treasury’s capacity to advise Ministers on economic conditions in Australia, produce the Government’s economic forecasts and conduct economic research.  These leadership roles will involve managing a small team of people, developing the analytical tools used by the Division and framing the Division’s advice on economic developments.

Relevant experience:

Successful candidates will have experience analysing economic conditions, producing economic forecasts and conducting in-depth macroeconomic analysis.  This may have been gained in a public-policy agency, private sector economics team or academic institution.  Appropriate tertiary qualifications in economics are highly desirable.

The successful candidates must demonstrate the capacity to assess the factors that drive the Australian and international economies.  They must be able to draw well-considered conclusions about the state of the economy and its prospects from a wide range of economic data, policy and other factors.  The clear communication of complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences is essential.
