There has been a consequential fall in the size and diversity of the economics student population in Australia. One approach to looking at the economics discipline in a structured way is to ask the following questions. Who studies economics? What is the pipeline of potential economics graduates? How are economic skills rewarded by the labour market? And what is the level of economic literacy in the community?
