Event Type: ESA Event
Date: Monday Apr 8, 2019, 5:30 pm
Please join Women in Economics and the Commonwealth Treasury for a panel discussion on the 2019 budget. Our panellists – Angela Jackson (Equity Economics) and Danielle Wood (Grattan Institute) – will take a comprehensive look at the budget and its implications. Enjoy a drink while our panellists tackle the big questions: What are the economic forecasts (and how does Treasury produce them)? Will the budget finally get to surplus and does it matter? How big are the pre-election giveaways? And what will be the impact of the budget on young people and women?
We look forward to seeing you for a fascinating discussion.

The objective of this seminar is to provide a brief demonstration of an applied analysis of how budgetary and other economic policy settings can be gender-patterned in their impacts and incentive effects. Policy in the Pub: Economic Regulation of Airports
Event Type: ESA Event
Date: Wednesday Mar 20, 2019, 5:30 pm
Airport regulation is a contested policy area, with airlines calling for changes to increase their bargaining power in negotiations with airports. The Productivity Commission’s draft report on the economic regulation of airports found that Australian airports are investing and operating efficiently by world standards, and existing airport regulation benefits the community. However, reforms are needed to enable greater scrutiny of airport performance in specific areas of concern. This talk will explain the Commission’s draft findings and recommendations, including why it thinks you’re not paying too much to park at the airport!
Join us for Policy in the Pub to hear from Stephen King from the Productivity Commission on the Economic Regulation of Airports.
