Modelling and Data Analysis Specialist, Tax Analysis Division

The Treasury is seeking modelling and data specialists to join the Tax Analysis Division. The successful candidates will work as part of a team to develop and maintain models and analytical frameworks, supporting Treasury’s policy analysis and forecasting work.

Tax Analysis Division is Treasury’s largest modelling team, providing quantitative expertise and support across the Department - including tax policy and forecasts, social policy, migration policy, and retirement income policy. Tax Analysis Division will also be leading delivery of the Government’s Lifetime Fiscal Impacts of Migration model, announced in the 2019 20 Budget. Modelling and data analysis specialists in Tax Analysis Division work with some of the largest administrative data sets in Australia to provide vital insights into important policy issues.Experience working with general modelling tools and frameworks is desirable, such as:

  • Household level modelling or analysis such as micro simulation modelling;
  • data analysis and visualisation techniques;
  • time series analysis; and
  • panel and/or cross-sectional analysis.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with staff on complex modelling tasks and communicate modelling results to both technical and non-technical audiences. Candidates should have an interest in evidence-based policy making.
