In a year that has seemed too often to be void of hope, end your year with some fresh perspectives on the importance of hope through the ages and what it means in modern economic thought.
Given by Professor of Behavioural Economics at the University of Tasmania Swee-Hoon Chuah, the webinar will ‘hopefully’ leave you feeling more positive about the year ahead as you enter a busy time of year celebrating with family and friends.
The session will be moderated by Dr Angela Jackson, national chair of WEN and comprise of a 30 minute presentation followed by questions, audience interaction and discussion.
About the Speaker
Swee-Hoon Chuah is a Professor of Behavioural Economics at the University of Tasmania (UTAS), where she is the founding Director of the Tasmanian Behavioural Lab. She holds a PhD in behavioural and experimental economics from the University of Nottingham, U.K. Her research expertise lies in cross-cultural economics, in particular the impact of factors such as ethnicity, religion and human values on socio-economic behaviour, which has been published in journals such as the European Economic Review, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Experimental Economics, Journal of Economic Psychology, Small Business Economics and Journal of Cultural Economics.
Before joining UTAS, Swee-Hoon served a secondment to the Behavioural Economics Team of the Australian Government (BETA) in Canberra, and remains particularly interested in the application of behavioural insights to public policy challenges. The policy-relevance of her work is evidenced by significant amounts of funding from governmental agencies, NGOs and research councils both in Australia and abroad. Swee-Hoon is currently the Deputy National Chair (Academic) of the Women in Economics Network (WEN).
