David Johnston
Professor David Johnston
David is a Professor in the Centre for Health Economics, Monash Business School, Monash University. His broad research areas are health economics, labour economics, and applied microeconometrics; but he has a particular interest in the economics of mental health and wellbeing, resilience, and the impacts of people's environment. Mostly, David uses Australian data to estimate the causal impacts of economic and social circumstances. His recent research has focused on identifying socioeconomic inequities in mental healthcare use, exploring the two-way relationship between economic insecurity and mental health, and evaluating the impacts of disasters and extreme weather on wellbeing.
