What is economics

Economics helps us make sense of the forces shaping everyday life — from the prices and strategies that firms choose, to cost of living and housing pressures, to climate policy, global trade, and local employment. At its heart, economics explores how people, businesses, and governments allocate resources, and the impacts. It offers tools for understanding markets and investments, contracts and bargaining, but also many of the larger forces such as inequality, unemployment, growth and international trade and migration. It equips you to address many of the challenges facing Australia and the world.
